L. A. Johnson is from California. She is the author of the chapbook Little Climates (Bull City Press). She received her MFA from Columbia University and is currently pursuing her PhD in literature and creative writing from the University of Southern California, where she is a Provost’s Fellow. She has received support from the Vermont Studio Center, Sewanee Writers' Conference, Mendocino Coast Writers' Conference, Napa Valley Writers’ Conference, and she was named on Narrative Magazine's list of 30 Below 30 writers. Her poems have recently appeared or are forthcoming in Alaska Quarterly Review, The American Poetry Review, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, TriQuarterly, and other journals. Her poem, “In Case of Emergency,” was selected for Best New Poets 2019.
